Why we built AvenuePlus
Avenue to Learn is powerful but scattered — and Mosaic makes planning next semester even worse. We wanted one place to run your whole academic life.
The problem we kept hitting
McMaster students live on Avenue — but Avenue wasn't designed as a personal command centre. Assignments live inside each course. Grades are buried in gradebooks. There's no cross-course view of what's due this week. And courses from three years ago still show up as if they're active.
AvenuePlus sits on top of Avenue and gives you the dashboard Avenue should have had: one screen, all courses, live data, smart filters.

Every McMaster student knows the ritual: open Mosaic, search a course, click into a section, open another tab, repeat until you've got twelve windows and a headache. The UI is clunky, dated, and genuinely hard to navigate — especially when you're trying to build a full timetable around work, commute, and the classes you actually need to graduate.
There's no good way to see if a schedule works before you commit. Conflicts hide behind nested menus. You brute-force section combos until something sticks. It shouldn't take an afternoon to answer “can I take these five courses without a Friday lab?”
That's why we built the Mosaic connector into AvenuePlus — tell us your availability and preferences, and we rank conflict-free schedules for you instead of making you fight the interface.
